Back to School with Jesus: A Guide for Kids Feeling Nervous

Posted by Teresa K. Sallee on 15th Aug 2024

Hey there, amazing kids!

As summer ends and school starts up again, you might be feeling a bit nervous or scared. It’s totally okay to have these feelings! School can be a big adventure, but with Jesus by your side, you can tackle anything that comes your way. Here’s a little guide to help you feel more confident and excited about going back to school.

1. A Friendly Plush to Keep You Company

Sometimes, just having a comforting friend with you can make a big difference. Think of a favorite plush toy or stuffed animal that makes you feel happy and safe. Whether it’s a cuddly bear, a soft bunny, or a playful puppy, bringing it with you to school or keeping it in your backpack can be a great reminder that you’re never alone.

2. Jesus is Always With You

Remember, Jesus is always with you, no matter where you are. Whether you’re at home, at school, or playing with friends, Jesus is right there beside you. He’s your very best friend and He loves you more than you can imagine. Whenever you’re feeling unsure or nervous, just take a deep breath and say a little prayer. It can help you feel calm and remind you that Jesus is there to support you.

3. Share Your Feelings

It’s okay to share how you’re feeling with someone you trust, like your parents, a teacher, or a friend. Talking about your worries can help you feel better and make things seem less scary. And remember, Jesus is always there to listen to your thoughts and feelings too. You can talk to Him anytime, anywhere!

4. Start Each Day with a Smile

Try starting each day with a smile and a positive thought. Maybe you can say a little prayer or think of something you’re excited about. A positive attitude can make your day brighter and help you feel more confident. And don’t forget, Jesus loves to see you happy!

5. Be Brave and Kind

School is a place where you can learn new things, make new friends, and have lots of fun. Being brave means facing new challenges even if they seem a little scary at first. And being kind to others can make you feel good and help you make great friends. Remember, Jesus taught us to be kind and loving to everyone around us.

6. You’ve Got This!

You are amazing, and you have everything it takes to have a great school year. With Jesus by your side and a friendly plush to keep you company, you’re ready to face anything. Believe in yourself, and don’t forget to have fun!

So, as you head back to school, remember that Jesus is with you every step of the way. You’re never alone, and He’s there to help you feel brave and confident. Have a fantastic school year, and don’t forget to smile!

Blessings and hugs,

Miss Teresa
